What We Do

What is First Step Vocational Grants?

First Step Vocational Grants program is a partnership between the Rotary Club of Southwest Eureka, The Rotary Club of Canby, Oregon, and First Step Grants Foundation. The program offers vocational grants (up to $3,000) to qualified applicants. Grants funds are to be used for tuition payments or direct costs for a short-term course of study. Payment for learning materials such as books and supplies may be considered. Grant funds are paid directly to the qualified institution providing the education and cannot be used for living expenses, housing etc.

How can this program help you?

The goal of the program is to provide a vocational training opportunity for recipients of a First Step Vocational Grant to earn a 50% increase in their hourly wage on completion of their educational program. If a recipient’s current rate of pay is $15/hour, after training, the pay rate would be $22.50/hour. Although it is understood that income results will vary depending on career field and training, it is a goal of the program for a grant recipient to earn a 50% increase in their hourly wage.
